➡️ This tutorial is made to be shown on Substance Design Tutor under the “Multichannel Face Texturing” category. This means that you are going to learn how to use those multichannel maps and smart materials that Texturing.xyz provides.
The only goal for this project was the provide a step by step tutorial to offer you some pointers for better texturing. It is not going to be a “fast and clear” texture creation tutorial. Still, I would like to share some insights for better texturing.
So I used the same technique and workflow in creating the textures. Although there are big challenges as well because big complex high-poly models take very long texturing time to achieve quality results.
In this project I think what is different from previous projects, is that we are creating high poly models. Because it is very difficult for texturing artists to take quality pictures from high poly models.
Nevertheless, by using multi-channel maps and smartmultidimensional materials (like Substance Painter and Texture.xyz) the final results are much better than before. When I was using the Vectorworks texture tools I think I got a decent result. However, the strategy of using Multi-Channel Maps and smart materials turned out to be very successful in this project.
My first step was to import the texture. In order to wrap my texture around the head I used an envelope and placed it around the sincedo package. Then I changed the rotation and added some texturing on the inside. To keep everything in place I used base layers. Then I did some displacement in order to get the right finish on the mesh. 7211a4ac4a
