While monster hunting, Liz and the other babysitters occasionally have to fight the beasties. People and creatures exchange kicks and punches, some characters get thrown around and objects get smashed.
Netflix: Kelly has agreed to babysit Jacob on Halloween night - a job that gets significantly more difficult when Jacob is abducted by monsters. To get him back, Kelly teams up with a secret society of monster-hunting babysitters who exist to protect kids.
Kelly, played by Tamara Smart, is also a genius. Able to see math equations laid out in front of her, she solves complicated equations without a calculator or writing down a single formula. She works on projects at her desk, including making her own flashlights, which comes in handy when monster hunting.
The movie will follow middle school babysitter Kelly Ferguson, who's bummed to find out she'll be watching children instead of partying with her friends. Things only get worse when the baby she's caring for is kidnapped by monsters. Fortunately, Kelly is recruited by a secret society of monster-hunting babysitters banding together to protect the children of the world. Although it sounds spooky on paper, the story is family-friendly and the movie will be nowhere nearly as mature as Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare. Described as \"The Last Kids on Earth meets Goosebumps,\" the book became a hit and led to the production of A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting #2: Beats & Geeks and A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting #3: Mission to Monster Island.
While this particular movie will be appropriate for kids to watch, Netflix will still be producing plenty of mature content for older horror fans to enjoy. Just days ago, the zombie drama series Black Summer premiered exclusively on the service and has been garnering a lot of attention upon its release. Labeled as a prequel companion series for Z Nation, the show follows a young mother (Jaime King) desperately searching for her daughter six weeks after the start of a zombie apocalypse. The tone will be about as far removed as you can get from the upcoming monster hunting movie from Rachel Talalay.
\"Let's get monster hunting!\" Netflix has unveiled the first official trailer for a fun adventure horror comedy called A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting, a new movie from the director of Tank Girl! Adapted from the popular scary book series of the same name. A young babysitter is recruited into a secret monster hunting society and embarks on a mission to bring back a child she is babysitting who's been abducted by monsters. Tamara Smart (seen in Artemis Fowl and \"The Worst Witch\") stars in this as Kelly, and the full cast includes Oona Laurence, Alessio Scalzotto, Ian Ho, Tamsen McDonough, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, Lynn Masako Cheng, Ty Consiglio, Ashton Arbab, Crystal Balint, Ricky He, along with Indya Moore and Tom Felton. This is described as an \"action-packed adventure about working together to overcome your fears\" and looks like Harry Potter + Men in Black + monsters. Which seems like good fun.
Kelly is forced to babysit, which kicks off a series of events that sends her down the rabbit (or hobbit, if you will) hole of monster hunting. There ends up being an entire organization around the world dedicated to fighting monsters. The entire plot is very linear and is relatively simple to follow. The ending, which was done very well, also sets it up for a sequel or series. 781b155fdc
